Updating ps3 from storage media

PUP (Playstation Update Package) files are packages which contain the files used to update a PSP or PS3 system. The other PUP file version is the same, except it is zero-filled after the normal PUP content to a fixed filelength of 256MB, which gets released on Gamedisks (if gamecreators build their project to a premaster and give it to Sony for signing, they just use a placeholder of a 256MB PS3UPDAT.

Within the Retail/CEX there are 2 file versions: 1 is a PUP with a normal file length which also gets released online.

Connect storage media that contains update data of version 4.21 or later, and press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time.'' I tried everything: format pen drive to FAT 32, used 3 different pen drives, tried update from cd, download update from PS3 site directly to files on pen drive and of course created folder ''PS3'' and sub folder ''UPDATE'' like Sony says-still nothing!

You may have to download the update ASAP in order to visit the Play Station Store and/or play online video games.

It will be interesting to see how many more times the console will be updated in the near future.

Load up music, movies, and photos There are a few ways to get music, video, and photos from your computer to your PS3: wirelessly stream it; burn a CD with the data; or use a USB thumbdrive.

Streaming is a great option if you want constant access to your PC's media library, but often the experience is tainted by lag and a spotty Wi-Fi connection.
